once you've logged in you'll be presented with the default report, a daily traffic graph covering the last 7 days. you can select from the many other reports available in the left-hand-side navigation bar.

reports likely to be of most interest are:

traffic > summary

the traffic summary report displays, as you'd expect, a brief summary of the activity on your site in the selected period, it defaults to the last 7 days, or you can choose a single day, or even show a whole year.

many people tend to be interested in total sessions, pageviews, & average length of session.

tracking > top entrances

this report simply shows you which pages your visitors start on when they visit your site, usually they'll start on your front page, but sometimes visitors will come from a search engine, from a bookmark, or from a link on another page, rather than browsing through from your front page.

referrals> top referrals

shows which sites are linking to you, very useful to see where your visitors are finding your site.

referrals> search engines

much the same as the top referrals report, but filtered to only include known search engines.

referrals> top keywords

displays the keywords used when people found your site in search engines.

domains> top domains

shows the domains of people visiting your site, can be used to show, for example, which internet service providers your visitors are using (eg. ihug, xtra, paradise).

urchin tracking module

if you have elected to install the urchin tracking module (utm) on your site, you'll have access to detailed reports on your visitors, including a record of first time visitors, how long between visits for average users, and the total number of unique sessions for a selected period. with utm installed these additional reports are available under users & sessions. the admin guide has more information about installing the utm.

other reports

there are many other reports available through urchin, all of which will help to give you a better over all picture of the popularity of your website. browse through all the reports, there are help pages linked from the bottom of most reports if you find anything you don't completely understand.
